Sorry to hear you left. It was very quiet in forums. Even in the Liberty Basic Forums. I can understand it being hard. Thank you for your contribution to society.

Michael, start reading about here (« Reply #7 on: Dec 29th, 2015, 05:34am ») on this "calculation" thread http://lbb.conforums.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&num=1450092388&start=0. You'll read some about the ridiculous vendetta the mods have for Richard on the LB Forum.
How many times do you read the "rules" on a forum? Do you know how many times "rules" change on any forum? Would you know when "rules" change? You could be banned for life with no notice and worse, no recourse. I had a post deleted with no notice or explanation.

They won't change the situation, because Richard represents everything that Liberty Basic could be, but never will be.
The bug fixes, the work arounds and the "keep up with Microsoft" revisions are what they are right now and won't change in anyone's near timeframe, because you are being sold a "bill of goods" with no "goods." Promises of the elusive "version 5" have been going on for a decade with no tangible results.
So, what else do you have? You have what you have and must make due with it, because they have run Richard Russell off. The only person that has done what needs to be done with Liberty Basic ... improve it.

Do you realize how long this vendetta went on? The people that isolated Richard Russell should be ashamed. They won't be, though.
History will show that BASIC as we know it has suffered greatly.

I've been using LBB since the earliest versions and it has always performed better than LB4. When variables in LBB had a 32kb size limit I simply wrote a buffer routine to load files and worked it into my programs and bam... fast and tiny Windows executables created with an easy, simple, and free programming language that even a kid could understand. It was always easy enough to program around any limitations that LBB had, and now it doesn't even have those. Even when I did find an error in one of my old programs, it was always a solid example of LBB not allowing faulty syntax where LB4 would.
Further expansion of the language would be great, but I seriously consider LB Booster 3 to be a finished product. It out-performs Liberty Basic 4 in every regard including smaller size, faster execution, lower number of files, fewer internal bugs, a superior debugger, and it interprets the Liberty Basic dialect better than the native implementation... and did I mention that it's free?

I couldn't have said it better.
Richard Russell has indeed improved and bettered the original product. I am sure we can all come up with something that we would like to see with LBB, but as you said, it is a complete product in itself. If it wasn't free it would be worth buying and I don't say that often.
If there is one area I would like to see explored, it's how we could get more at the power of BBC Basic on which it is powered. There are some useful links, but I'm sure there could be more.
In the meantime, let's be grateful for what Richard has done so far. Although I like LB, I like LBB more!
