Somebody asked about flashing text. This is cheating:

Code:
    print chr$(22); chr$(7);
    print chr$(136); "Flashing text"

Hi Richard

It works in LBB, but I couldn't get it to work in any of the other BASICs I have access to.

How does it work?

As I said, it's cheating! The first line:

Code:
print chr$(22); chr$(7);

is equivalent to Code:
VDU 22,7

which is equivalent to Code:
MODE 7

which selects the BBC Micro's Teletext/Videotex mode. The second line is just the Videotex control code for 'flash' followed by the text. Not really useful, but interesting (maybe).
