xx Sort order
« Thread started on: Jan 22nd, 2015, 09:28am »

One of the differences between LBB and LB4 is that LBB's SORT statement (by design) uses a straightforward 'ASCII sort', i.e. the order into which the array is sorted is determined by the ASCII/ANSI character code. So for example capital letters come before lowercase letters.

Somebody at the LB Community Forum wants to know how to sort with embedded capital letters but of course nobody dares tell him that one solution is to use LBB, because they know it would be likely to get them banned from the forum!

"Not quite just".
"Nobody tells to use LBB" is about as relevant as "nobody says to use C#".
Yes, C# does not have this problem. But it's not LB. And that is LB forum. So idea of recommending LBB never occured to me before you said it.

So I will PM original poster.

Just for the record,
De-facto ban on mentioning LBB "not quite just" as well - but I will not fight about it.

Rewriting a program in another language (e.g. C#) is very different from simply recompiling it using an alternative compiler, IMHO.

I guess it depends on how you see the relationship between LB4 and LBB - for me they are both Liberty BASIC - just alternative implementations (in exactly the same way as GCC and Visual C are alternative C compilers, or Turbo Pascal and Free Pascal are alternative Pascal compilers).

Somebody (not you) mentioned LBB a few days ago, in a thread about speed, but within a short time their post had been deleted. angry

It is not even permitted to mention LBB in a Private Message (if I try to send a PM on the LB Forum it tells me "you are not allowed to send PMs"). Even the name "LBBooster" is automatically converted to "Unsupported add-on" by the forum software! I hope you don't get caught. tongue
