Are we all giving up?
Post by Alincon on Mar 6th, 2015, 2:36pm

Are all you LBB users giving up, like Richard has?
Is it possible that we users can try to keep LBB alive by trying to help each other on this board?
I would like to try. LBB 3.0 is too good to just let die.

r.m.

Agreed. LBB users should continue to help each other and hopefully Richard may one day feel able to return.

I have not used LBB yet, but I will be trying it out soon as from what I have seen it has features I want/need.

It is a shame that I find this so late.

LBB is more than good it is very good.
If Liberty Basic keep sleeping for many years in future.
We will all found our self here. Playing in the yard of Richard.
I thing the big mistake is to use LB as a prefix for the Booster, this done aggravate the owners of LB.
It was better to use BBC_Booster then every thing will be cool and understandable.
I love LBB.
Richard is a wonderful person, he help others, friendly, he is very smart and very clever.
One day I describe him for local friends, I said "he reads every word written by Micro Soft, more over he remember them all, and make use of them".

I will try to contrıbute to keep it alive as much as my time permits.

Richard Russel is an exceptional person and LBB seems to be the only improving thing in the LB world. Richard always sincerely and promptly helped me when I had problems.

There are only very few people who is as capable and knowledgable as Richard.

I believe LBB was a sincere effort to enhance LB itself as an optional tool which can be used. In fact the extensions like INCLUDE files should have been adopted by. LB. There would be no harm in LB getting inspired by LB.

Maybe, Richard should continue this product without any regard or constrainted to LB by freely expanding and improve it at every way.

Or, maybe Richard can write a Windows version of Apple's new SWIFT language to show his mastery. I am sure this could be a very interesting experiment. Maybe a subset of Swift which can be gradually improved. This will surely motivate his intellectual capacity.

Or, maybe LBB for IOS and/or ANDROID?

Anyways, we always want Richard to keep up the great work on LBB snd keep astonishing us with ever more powerful LBB.

Looks like I got here a skosh too late. I just received an email about LBB, which I had never heard of before, and about jumped out of my chair. It seems to solve all the frustrations I have about LB, which BTW I like very much. Immediately put some projects back on the front burner.

But I arrive here and see this thread... well I hope all can be resolved and everyone can get along. LBB seems fantastic. I will use it.

It's never too late! We will all try to help each other here, as our experience and time allows.

Never give up, never surrender!

It would have been awesome to see Carl and Richard join forces rather then be at odds.

I, for one, will be using LBB now as long as it is still viable.

Ever the optimist I do hope Richard reconsiders. smiley

If LB5 ever sees the daylight, I still can't imagine why I should stop using LBB:
It is nearly perfect (it does everything I want it to do), bugfree (as far as known for the moment) and fast. And it has extras that LB doesn't offer.

Argueing with the LB team is senseless. It is all about perceptions, not about facts. LBB can rely on it's own strength, why bother anymore about LB?

Lbb is awesome and I have been using it exclusively for all of my desktop projects.

I do hope however that there is continued updates as lb5 acts more like run basic in the way it talks to GUI widgets.

Things like
Bla$ = #wintitle.textbox1 contents$()

It would be nice if they resolved there diferences and I wish the forum was not being such an issue. They are nor!aly so nice over there.

Someone commented on the LB forum that LB develops at a 'glacial rate'. That is the root problem now with LB, which seems to have lost its way. Good in its time but hey progress is fast and LB IMHO has not kept up with that pace. LBB gave LB the boost it needed but protection of Carl's rights (if they existed, I don't know the legalities) overpowered the customers demands. I see it as a sorry end to LB for a lot of users who are moving on to other things. Again IMHO a joint venture could have been its salvation but I'm afraid that feelings are such that it will never happen now and that LB5 will not appear in a useful form in my lifetime!

I encouraged people to use LB many years ago but that is now impossible, they don't want to hear about BASIC.
What a sad state of affairs.

I too just got an email about LBB. I too had not heard of it before now. I have used LB for over 10 years of spotty coding as I got fired up and then left and then came back over the years. Thinking about maybe using LBB as I am thinking about coding again.

What I liked about LB was the help file and the LBworkshop info. Is there anything comproble to that for LBB. As I am going to have to renew my knowledge base to get going again.

Thanks,
Milfredo smiley

LB Workshop works very nicely with LBB. There's an article here on how to configure it:

http://bb4w.wikispaces.com/Using+LBB+with+Liberty+BASIC+Workshop

For the help file I suggest you create a CHM version of the LB 4.04 help as described here:

http://bb4w.wikispaces.com/Creating+a+CHM+version+of+the+LB+Help+files

Then you can configure LB Workshop so that the LB help is accessible using Help... Liberty BASIC Help (or pressing F1) and the LBB help using Help... Optional Help File (both also available from the LBW toolbar).

When using LBB on its own, without LBW, I simply put a shortcut to lb4help.chm on the desktop.

Richard.

Thanks Richard. I appreciate the quick response. Hope you reconsider your decision to bail. Alot of people here seem to think the world of you and your efforts.
