Ad-free credits
Post by Richard Russell on Feb 1st, 2017, 07:07am

The very generous donations to keep this forum ad-free have now run out, so if anybody would like to donate, the button is at the bottom of the home page.

Richard.

Thank you! Using an ad-blocker on Conforums is questionable if you read their Terms of Service:

"Conforums' website service and access to it is free provided that our advertisements are found on all user pages. The use of ad-blockers or scriptlets designed to block ads is strictly prohibited".

In principle they can tell that you're using an ad-blocker and could rescind your membership. Whether they would is another matter.

Richard.

I wonder if that means in the header or footer of the forum? Mine is an addon to the browser. Been using it for a few years without any problems on conforums. I do go to a few website that popup a message and refuse to load the page unless you disable it for their site.

I'm sure they mean a conventional browser plugin like yours and AdBlock Plus (which I use on Microsoft Edge). I know hardly anybody bothers to read Terms and Conditions, but I thought I ought to draw attention to what you have notionally agreed to!
