Touch-screen compatibility
Post by Richard Russell on Oct 18th, 2015, 09:42am

I was disappointed to discover that LB 4.5.0's program editor is still not touch-screen compatible - it doesn't seem to respond to any touch gestures at all. This is surprising because Windows automatically converts simple touch gestures (e.g. scrolling) to the equivalent mouse operations, so generally applications will respond to them without any effort from the programmer at all.

PCs with touch-screens, particularly laptops, are becoming increasingly common and of course Windows 8 and 10 are designed very much with touch operation in mind. So I would have expected this to be on Carl's list of things to fix in 4.5.0, especially as supporting scrolling, at least, ought to be trivial.

Needless to say LBB is fully touch-compatible: the program editor may be scrolled and zoomed, text may be selected and dragged, the context menu may be displayed (touch and hold) etc., although a stylus may be desirable for fine control.

Richard.
