I run two Conforums boards: bb4w.conforums.com (for BBC BASIC) and lbb.conforums.com (for LB Booster). The banner adverts on the BB4W board all seem to be 'legal, decent and honest' but the banner ads on this LBB board often seem to be trying to deceive you to download something you probably shouldn't.
For example today I get a fake media player telling me that I need to download a new plugin. I haven't dared click on it; I'm pretty sure I would regret it!
Does anybody have any idea why Conforums is serving such different kinds of advertisements to the two boards?
Richard.

Well ads are usually based on profile. But in your case the profile is new user needing bumped into ad free pages.
I recon the other forums are most of the time paid ad free, they see just a few ads at month end because of the block use system. Conforums will not want paying customers aggrieved.
Perhaps they are just teasing you into going ad free. But it's just a guess.
I'm sure the Conforums support forum will give you better advice.

I believe the ads are based on whatever text is in the forum's content.
Have you tried asking on the conforums support board? I have asked a few questions there and received prompt replies.
For my own forum I just pay to not have the ads.

As you may have noticed, this forum was ad-free in February, but $6.99 per month is more than I'd be happy to pay for the luxury of making it permanent - bearing in mind that LBB is freeware. Of course anybody can contribute - just click on the Donate button at the bottom of the home page - it doesn't have to be me!
Richard.
